How to Use Droplr’s Auto Redaction Feature

With Droplr’s new and improved auto redaction feature, you can automatically redact sensitive information from screenshots and other images as well as manually edit which words are redacted.

From your drop settings under your account, you can change your redaction settings. You can change your drops to automatically redact sensitive information for everyone, no one, or for everyone except for team members. If you are an admin, you can also change the settings for the entire team. Whenever redaction settings are changed, they change for future drops only; you cannot retroactively change the redaction settings for old drops from account settings.

You can change the redaction settings for an individual drop by clicking “view file”. This will bring up individual file settings and information. This same screen appears right after you take a screenshot, so you can change these settings for new screenshots as well. From this screen, you can click on the “…” button on the right side to open up another menu. From there, click on “change redaction”. You can then change the redaction for the individual drop to everyone, no one, or everyone except team members. You can also exclude the redaction from certain groups.

You can also check which words are redacted from an individual file’s settings. Under “File options”, you can toggle “Redaction Preview” on and off. When Redaction Preview is on, you can view what your redacted drop will look like.

When viewing the redaction preview, you can click on the “Modify” to change which words are redacted. This will bring you to a new screen, which lists all of the words in your screenshot. You can use to toggle by each word to turn its redaction on and off. You can also search for a specific word at the top of the screen. Once you’ve finished changing which words are redacted, click “Save Redaction”.

Now, whenever you share your file, it should be redacted according to the words you’ve selected and the settings you have chosen! Whitelist & Blacklist

If you are an Admin, then you can whitelist and blacklist certain words. Whitelisting a word means that it will never be auto-redacted, while blacklisting one means that it will always be redacted.

To whitelist or backlist a word, go to admin.droplr.com and sign into your Admin control panel. On the left side, click on “Redaction”.

This will show your Redaction List. To add another word to the list, click on the “Add” button in the upper right corner.

The above window will then pop-up on your screen. Enter the word you want to add to the list and select whether to add it to the “White List” or “Black List”. You can also set the risk score weight, which will help Droplr determine the overall risk score for your drops. A higher risk score means that your drop includes more personally identifiable information. The risk score weight can be set between 0 and 1, with 1 representing the most risk. Once you’re done setting this score, click “Submit” to add the word to your Redaction List.

You can also edit words and delete words on your list. To edit a word, click on the pencil icon next to it. You can change the word, its risk score weight, and whether it it on the whist list or black list. To delete a word, click on the trash icon. You can also search for words on your list or filter the list to only show your black list or white list.
